Why Is MIG® LIF Important?

Fusion surgery through a keyhole incision.  Surgeons using the Midline Image Guided Fusion (MIG® LIF) Procedure can access the relevant spinal anatomy using a single midline incision of 15-20 mm.  This small single midline incision is used to perform a complete decompression, fusion and instrumentation procedure.

TRADITIONAL INCISION MAY BE UP TO 3x THE SIZE OF THE MIG® LIF INCISION

Open fusion surgery is traditionally performed through a large skin incision and usually requires the stripping away of muscle and other soft tissue to gain access to the spine.

The MIG® LIF Procedure utilizes a keyhole incision, limiting the amount of soft tissue disruption and respecting much of the surrounding anatomy.

*As with most surgical operations, serious adverse events, such as infection, nerve damage, or implant-related problems can occur.  This procedure is not for everyone.  Patients should consult their physician for a discussion of all risks and whether this procedure is right for them.
